What discovery channel episode has a black hole ripping buildings up and the earth crumbling into it?
Q. What episode was this: There was either a discovery channel or national geographic episode about the nano black goop that enveloped the earth and destroyed mankind and a cool black hole animation about if a black hole ever destroyed earth and it shows earth crumbling and buildings being ripped into the sky repeatedly. I thought it was very unrealistic but captured my imagination.

A. Hi. It was about the LHC or CERN and the possible formation of black holes.

What is the most important discovery over the last 100 years?
Q. These must not be inventions, but a discovery. Please give a date, the name of the discovery and the discovering individual or group. Please back up your statement with an argument. Basha C - that's an invention not a discovery.

A. Penicillin - discovered in 1928 but not put into wide use until the 1940's. Has saved millions of lives that would have been lost to simple infections.

What exactly is meant by discovery in a child support case?
Q. I have been taken back to child support court by my ex. I have filed a counter motion along with 4 other motions and one for a continuance requesting that my ex have to provide the court with absolute proof of his income(self-employed truck driver). The judge denied my request for a continuance and all he said was that I needed to provide him with discovery at the hearing next week. Does anyone know what this means and what is it that I should be doing? Is there a certain form I need to fill out, or what? I really need help with this and have no money to get an attorney or even ask questions of one. What is discovery? If anyone knows, I will be very grateful. Thanks for your help in this. A. When a party in a case files a motion of discovery, it means that the other party has to turn over all of the evidence that they will be using during the hearing. Since the judge is ordering you to turn over your discovery, that means that your ex has filed the motion and you must turn over all of your evidence to the court.

Is Craig Venters discovery the stepping stone to prove the theory of intelligent design?
Q. Proof is on the making, I think ,by Craig Venters discovery of creating life in a lab. Many states are banning human animal mixed DNA, and also banning cloning. It seems now with this latest proof that life can in fact be created, that the idea of intelligent design ( Not God) is no longer a fairy tale, but is indeed the proof to back to the theory of Intelligent design. What are your thoughts?

A. Kerosene was an important commodity in the days before electric lighting and it was the first material to be chemically extracted on a large commercial scale. Mass refinement of kerosene and other petroleum products actually began in 1859 when oil was discovered in the United States. An entire industry evolved to develop oil drilling and purification techniques. Kerosene continued to be the most important refinery product throughout the late 1890s and early 1900s.

A. I've never been on a discovery flight as I was flying with my dad as a child long before I ever decided to take flying lessons (early 20's despite being around aviation for my whole life). However, I used to work at a flight school and so I've seen a lot of people who've taken discovery flights or intro rides, whichever you want to call it. Most people who were interested in aviation enjoyed their experience. Some found that they didn't feel the greatest or that it just wasn't what they thought, but overall most people's enthusiasms were fueled by the experience. Pure research, that is doing research to find or or make something for knowledge sake alone is more difficult as funds are less forthcoming. However this sort of research does also throw up unexpected disoveries ... Teflon being an example.People sometimes decry pure research as 'unneccesary'. Doesn't this illustrate a valid point? What positive or negative contributions does the discovery of the neutron have on society ?
Q. How would this show evidence of global considerations ? How did the discovery of the neutron affected us ?
Asked by Tamara - Sat Oct 20 21:51:44 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. As the Neutron is neither positive or negative, it has no direct impact on society except that neutrons are present in all matter (material things), (except normal hydrogen). However since its 'discovery' and the fact that it can be used in splitting atoms, the impact on the Global scale has been catastrophic (A-bombs) in some instances and a 'blessing ?', in others (Nuclear power).

How can we make money out of the discovery of the ACNE cure?
Q. Without selling a product or a book. Which way would choose to get money from this discovery to search for other cures when you hate marketing or fundraising? A. Talk to companies who would use your research to create a final product. If this is something really good, I would also look to patent the idea so you don't lose all the hard work to the corporate companies. If it's something that really would sell, I'm sure they will negotiate a price/terms with you.

What was the importance of the age of discovery and exploration?
Q. I need three reasons why the age of discovery was the most important movement of the Renaissance era. What impacts did it have on the world?
Asked by blueyedbeauty915 - Wed Nov 1 17:24:48 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. "Discovery" is the key word. The voyages of the age of discovery increased knowledge, brought new products, introduced cultures, opened new markets, etc. New challenges brought changes in maritime technology - improved navigation, shipping, and associated crafts. The expense - and potential rewards- of these complex ventures helped to spur the growth of corporate entities (there is a name for them - joint stock companies, I think, but check that for accuracy) that helped spread risk. Insurance, too. The huge increase in money brought about by the discovery of gold and silver in Mexico and Peru lead to major economic growth in Europe, which in turn allowed more exploration.

A. I have this exact same project due for my teacher :) Mountain Men knew the land and would guide people through wilderness, they also asked for something in return most often supplies. Marco Polo was a traveler and a trader, who traveled the silk road from China to Europe. so basically: -both traded for goods -both expanded in search of lands to travel and routes to discover Age of Discovery was when Europeans explored the oceans searching for goods while Manifest Destiny was when people wanted to expand towards the west. so basically: -searched lands -expanded you can see that the four topics all tie together, so in general the all expanded, traded, and explored. Hope I helped.

A. What the other answerer is referring to are "Interrogatories". If you live in a no-fault divorce state, you most likely will never see these in a divorce case. In divorce cases, Discovery typically refers to documents in your possession and/or things such as your financial statements (you have to provide a list of your earnings, debts, assets, etc). An "answer" is your response. When 1 side files for divorce, the other side will be served with the "complaint" and will be required to "answer". Typically on the 1st round, the answer will just require you to confirm certain things and deny others. The purpose is to weed out those things that will need to be settled in the divorce from those that are just stipulated to. For example, in the… [cont.]

A. They have not released that yet. I would just check TV guide regularly and see if that episode's title ever comes back up.

A. Supplemental discovery exhibit is a piece of evidence that is tied to something that is already admitted into evidence. It would be like having the knife that someone used to kill a guy but it does not have his finger prints on it. Then the prosecution finds a picture of the defendant holding the knife from before the murder occurred. I think. I am no lawyer...just smart
