A used good can also simply mean it is no longer in the same condition as it was when it was first transferd to the current end user. Used goods may be transferred informally between friends and family for free as "hand-me- by private individuals, in which "block sales" are allowed, so that sellers are not required to obtain business licenses Business licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow individuals or companies to conduct business within the government's geographical jurisdiction. Typically the goods in a garage sale are unwanted items from the household The household is "the basic residential unit in which economic production, consumption, inheritance, child rearing, and shelter are organized and carried out"; [the household] "may or may not be synonymous with family" with the home owners conducting the sale. The goods are sometimes new, like-new, or just usable, offered for sale because the owner does not want or need the item, to minimize their possessions, or to raise funds. Popular motivations for a garage sale are "Spring cleaning Spring cleaning is the period in spring time set aside for cleaning a house, normally applied in climates with a cold winter" or the owner's move to a new residence, to even getting some well-earned spending money. The seller displays their wares to the passers-by or those responding to signs, flyers, or newspaper ads. Sometimes local television stations will broadcast a sale on the local public channel. The conceptual work was presented as a staged yard sale with hundreds of the artist’s photographs embedded in the artifacts. The work was turned into an actual yard sale and sold off item by item at the end of its gallery run.

Q. I am planning on moving and have already had one yard sale which went pretty good. I am ready to sell some more stuff but wondering if I would get more money at a consignment shop but don't want to get cheated & don't know how to find a good one. I am in Augusta, GA if anyone knows of one here.

A. the good ones have been around for some time. You usually get a contract that tells you straight up what your per centage is going to be on a sale, when the mark downs start. If they can't sell your stuff they tell you what they'll do with it - give it back to you - or give it to a charity you have the choice, Check around the yellow pages and ask your friends.
