A boat is a watercraft of modest size designed to float or plane, to provide passage across water. Usually this water will be inland (lakes) or in protected coastal areas. However, boats such as the whaleboat were designed to be operated from a ship in an offshore environment. In naval terms, a boat is something small enough to be carried aboard another vessel (a ship). Strictly speaking and uniquely a submarine is a boat as defined by the Royal Navy. Some boats too large for the naval definition include the Great Lakes freighter, riverboat, narrowboat and ferryboat. From Wikipedia under the

I am looking to purhcase a boat for wakeboarding within a 3-6000 price range. What are boats that I could buy that still put off a good wake? Asked by CARPE DIEM - Thu Jun 4 13:14:24 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. any family runabout that is older. an I/O or a v-drive. beginner wake boarders really don't need much wake. it can actually slow the learning process by giving too much air. an older boat will throw more wake than a newer one (except wake specific boats). you can always add fat sacs or other type of weight to enhance your wake later. don't go out board or inboard or jet drive as those produce minimal wakes. Answered by dontknow - Fri Jun 5 10:39:17 2009 How much is the markup on high performance boats? Q. I'm looking at starting a high performance boat dealership long term (Cigarette, etc.) Obviously, very few boats are sold in this market so what markup can i expect on these boats. If you have experience in this field, is there any money in this. Thanks Asked by Erik - Thu Oct 29 00:57:35 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. I spent a few years at a Fountain dealership, here are some observations. As the value of the boat increases, the margins drop. For instance, on a boat that retails for $50,000, you might have a markup of 25%. On a $500,000 boat, your margin can be as low as 6%. The costs on keeping an inventory of performance boats is much greater, most manufacturers do not offer terms, so your line of credit at the bank costs almost as much as any profit you may see. You can recover your costs in after sale service and accessories, fuel sales, berthing, etc. Most of the manufacturers will have a minimum purchase amount for there dealers, so you may have to carry $2-3 million in inventory. If you don't sell this inventory, there are no returns to… [cont.] Answered by LIMA 45.05.18.77 - Thu Oct 29 08:58:02 2009 Why am i so fascinated by boats they rock is it becuase Im a nature person?
Q. What qualities do you think a person who Like baots might have in their soul and what other new things do you think a persobn whio like boats might like as well? Asked by God is king and im his Prince - Fri Mar 7 10:03:24 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think that people who like boats are looking for peace in their lives, and can find it in nature and in the simple things of life. People who like boats probably appreciate nature, hiking, exploring, travelling, having simple adventures. We may be fascinated by the rocking of boats because in some kind of mysterious way it takes us back to even before we were born, and the rocking in the womb.
