An auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the highest bidder. We have an eBay Drop off store and we see many people are disappointed in the proceeds from an auction or public sale. Those events are typically attended mostly by dealers, who then resell those items for a much larger profit. That means you get cut out of a lot of the profit that way. Selling on eBay gets your merchandise right into the hands of collectors. You could also sell stuff on Craigs list but there are probably many, many items that you would undersell because you don't realize their worth.
